Zivian Health Leadership Update: Rafid Fadul Joins ARPA-H, Griffin Mulcahey Named CEO

Today marks an important moment in Zivian Health’s journey.

Zivian is thrilled to announce that co-founder and CEO Rafid Fadul, MD, is stepping into the role of Executive Chairman while joining the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) as its first Chief Medical Officer and Senior Advisor. Zivian President Griffin Mulcahey will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer.

Please see our official announcement for formal details. We wanted to take a moment here to speak more directly to our community about what this transition means for Zivian and the work ahead.

Expanding Impact and Leadership Continuity

Rafid’s appointment to ARPA-H is a recognition of his leadership at the intersection of clinical care, technology, and healthcare system transformation. ARPA-H, an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is focused on advancing high-impact health innovation, and Rafid’s role underscores the growing importance of clinician workforce challenges at a national level.

While joining ARPA-H, Rafid will continue to serve as Executive Chairman of Zivian Health. In this role, he will remain actively involved in guiding our long-term strategy and mission. This transition is not a step away from Zivian, but an expansion of Rafid’s reach and influence, alongside a continued commitment to the company he founded.

As Rafid shared in the announcement, joining ARPA-H is an opportunity to contribute to healthcare innovation on a national stage while continuing to support Zivian’s mission and growth.

Griffin Mulcahey Named Zivian CEO

As Zivian enters its next chapter, Griffin Mulcahey is stepping into the role of CEO to lead the company’s day-to-day execution and growth.

Griffin brings over a decade of experience building and scaling healthcare workforce and technology companies. His background spans healthcare law, regulatory strategy, and operational execution, and he has been an integral part of Zivian’s vision, customer partnerships, and product evolution since Zivian’s early days.

Before joining Zivian, Griffin co-founded Wheel Health, a national B2B telehealth platform, where he helped scale clinical operations and enterprise partnerships in complex regulatory environments. As President of Zivian, he has played a central role in translating our mission into a platform that meets the real-world needs of healthcare organizations.

As CEO, Griffin will focus on execution, platform development, and delivering tangible value to customers and partners, while staying grounded in Zivian’s mission to build the operating system for the modern clinical workforce.

What’s Next for Zivian

This leadership transition is a natural step that reflects Zivian’s maturity and momentum. Over the past year, we’ve seen strong performance across the business.

  • 500% increase in platform adoption
  • Over 100% increase in clinician network
  • Over 7,000 clinical collaborations established

These milestones are evidence of the growing demand for the platform that Zivian is building.

Zivian is a unified platform that serves as workforce infrastructure for modern healthcare organizations, helping them manage the regulatory, operational, and quality requirements that sit behind patient care. As care delivery becomes more team-based and workforce shortages intensify, healthcare organizations are slowed by fragmented systems for compliance, licensing, credentialing, and clinical oversight.

For our customers, partners, and community, nothing about our priorities is changing. We remain committed to investing in our platform, supporting the people who power healthcare, and building systems that enable care to be delivered compliantly and at scale.

We’re grateful to our customers, partners, and exceptional team members who continue to build alongside us. The work ahead is ambitious, and we’re energized by the opportunity to keep strengthening our healthcare system.
